| | I'm not eloquent or terribly insightful but I hope you'll humor me as I wax philosophic about the day in politics.
For 8 years I have heard the partisan platitude "I didn't vote for him
he's not my president" echoed like a mantra by those who had nothing
but vitriol for the president of the United States. I have read forum
posts and blogs in which those who belong to the party of "tolerance"
hoped for assassinations, rapes and impeachments of the incumbent. In
short we live in a generation that has seemingly lost any concept of
what deferential respect is.
Anyone who knows me has to know that there is probably not a single
political issue on which I agree with our President-Elect. I'd be
guilty of lying if I said that I am not dismayed and slightly
disappointed by America's decision. But it is America's decision and
that is entirely paramount. This is precisely the reason that men far
greater than I have gone to war, bled and died.
If you count yourself among those who couldn't pull the proverbial
lever for President Elect Obama do not let this sour you. Do not become
embittered. Instead recognize that it is time to show the other side
how to support a Commander-in-Chief. I implore my Christian brethren to
pray for this man because as the King's health goes so goes the land.
Because at the end of the day we have seen today that anyone can become
president. And all things being equal that is a thing of beauty. This
man is Our President...he is MY President and that has to mean
something. |
