Despite the fact that I have openly mocked others for doing so, I have decided to give this whole "Xanga-thing" a try. Mostly because my good friend Paul Cho pointed out that enough insanely crazy crap happens to me, that documenting it would at the very least provide for good reading.
There you go... Disclaimer over. On with the blog entry...
So on SaturdayI went to see the DragonLady, an acupuncturist I was referred to by Jen Cho, who incidently happens to be the DragonLady's niece. (I'll pause so you can diagram that convoluted sentence). The subject of my visit: fatness.
Having long held to the opinion that I have excess fattitude, I have long held to the opinion that dieting in general is the only thing that sucks more than being fat. Regardless, health is the issue here...
It was my expectation that DragonLady would just stick a bunch of needles in me, and suddenly I'd no longer want to eat, and through the miracle of non-modern medicine I'd be well... not fat.
Instead however she put me on a diet of raw food. Yes, you heard me right. Raw food.
Going to a "Traditional Doctor" (in the Korean sense) is a rather interesting experience. This was my second visit to one, the first having been when I threw my back out running to catch a bus in GwangJu South Korea a year ago. This time around however there were no punctures.
Basically what DragonLady said I should do is spend 3 weeks eating raw food. Then if I didn't see amazing results come back and she'd turn me into a human pin-cushion.
So its Thursday now. And I've subsisted on fruits, nuts and kimchee for 3.5 days. And I've learned one very important thing.
I like my food cooked. I mean I REALLY like my food cooked. I want a big fat juicy steak burnt to blackened charcoal brickette, next to a side of french-fried potatoes double fried in animal fat.
It's about time for me to close up shop, and head out to Antioch to pick up Malachi. We're headed out to Florida tomorrow for my 4th of July vacation. Malachi is nuts because a trip to Disney is in the works right now. |
